Yoko Ono initially gained widespread fame through her marriage to John Lennon, but those acquainted with contemporary art recognize her as a pioneering and influential figure in the Fluxus movement. During my time in New York City in the early '80s, the art scene was alive with anticipation and rumors of her potential appearances at various shows. Yoko's status as an icon is well-deserved, celebrated not only for her connection to Lennon but for her own substantial contributions to the art world. She remains the only Asian person I've chosen to paint, a testament to her unique impact and enduring legacy.
